A Powder Recovery Cyclone is not typically seen as an essential piece of equipment for process rooms, but when customers experience the benefits, such as increased batch reconciliations and yields, then they often introduce more units to their process.
1. Recapture 90-99% of Lost Powder
The cyclone’s high efficiency design means on most pharmaceutical or nutraceutical blends, it typically operates with 90 – 99.9% efficiency. This means the majority of powder usually lost to the security filters of the CDE will instead be caught in the catch-pot of the cyclone.
2. Save Money With Almost Zero Maintenance Costs
With no mechanical parts, the cyclone has virtually no consumable items or conceivable faults. Once installed, the unit is maintenance-free and cost-free, making a return on investment high and ever-increasing.
An isolation valve fitted above the catch-pot allows the operator to remove and change the catch-pot when full, without ever shutting down production. With the majority of the waste powder now intercepted by the cyclone, the security filters of your dust extraction system will last far longer and prevent fluctuating air flow as filters become more blocked. This will stop the need for regular cleaning of the filters and significantly prolong their life between expensive replacements.
3. Ease of Install / Can Be Retro-Fitted to Existing Processes
The cyclone requires minimal installation, supplied with a simple wall bracket or mobile trolley, hence there is little impact on the process room and associated expensive installation costs. With Tri-Clamp connections on both the inlet and outlet, the cyclone can quickly be fitted in line with existing pipework. Similarly, the design causes minimal pressure drop with negligible loss of airflow from the existing dust extraction line.
4. Improve Batch Loss Reconciliation
Introducing a cyclone into a dust extraction system, that can recover up to 99.9% of product passing through it, dramatically improving the life of HEPA filters. It also enables operators to easily account for product that would otherwise be escaping through the extraction system, allowing for accurate and compliant batch loss reconciliation.
A cyclone is easily retrofitted to an extraction hose within the process room. The catch pot at the bottom of the cyclone allows the excess material (that would have previously been lost in the HEPA filter) to be accounted for. Safe change can be fitted to the cyclone, allowing the operator to remove and handle the catch pot without being exposed to the product.
5. ATEX Exempt
