Hanningfield’s Helping Hand: Volunteering at Havens Hospices
As part of our ongoing commitment to local charities, several teams from Hanningfield recently dedicated their time to volunteer at Little Havens and Fair Havens Hospices.
The four groups tackled various maintenance tasks, including gardening, painting, and general DIY projects. Everyone enjoyed their time away from their usual work routines and valued the opportunity to contribute to the local community. This year, Hanningfield proudly provided a total of 198 hours of support to the hospices.
Hanningfield extends a big thank you to all team members who participated, and to the staff at Havens Hospices for facilitating our visits. Hanningfield considers it a privilege to assist this wonderful organisation and look forward to arranging more volunteering days in the future!

Havens Hospices: A Legacy of Care in Essex
Fair Havens Hospice, established in Westcliff in 1983, has been a cornerstone of adult palliative care in Southend, Castle Point, and Rochford. It has provided comprehensive care, including respite, symptom management, and end-of-life support, to 25,000 adults with complex and incurable conditions, as well as their families. Notably, it stands as the sole hospice in South East Essex offering such specialised adult care.
A decade after Fair Havens opened, the organisation expanded its mission with the creation of Little Havens. Opening its doors in 1998, Little Havens extended compassionate care to children throughout Essex and neighbouring regions. Their mission is “to offer the best possible palliative and supportive care, free from fear and barriers, where the patient and those important to them are always put first”.
