On Saturday 9th September, a group of intrepid climbers from Team Hanningfield trekked up Wales’ highest summit, Mount Snowdon. At an elevation of 3560ft, it is also the highest point in the British Isles outside of the Scottish Highlands. The trek was to raise funds for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Service (EHAAT).
Our brave hikers were Mike, Gavin, Candice, Max, Mark, Michaela, Steve, James, Brad, Alex & Darcy. They began their ascent at 10am on Saturday morning. It was an unseasonably warm September day, which made the climb a little more challenging, but the group made excellent time, taking just 6 hours to complete.
The team raised an impressive total of £2,270 for the Essex & Herts Ambulance Service.
Candice, our QHSE Manager “The team had a brilliant time raising money for this worthwhile cause. It was a challenge but we helped each other with lots of encouragement along the way. I am particularly proud of my son who joined us in completing the climb and in his efforts to raise money at school”
On behalf of everyone at Hanningfield, we would like to say a huge well done to the team. This is a huge accomplishment and you should feel very proud of all you have achieved! We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who donated and enabled Team Hanningfield to exceed their set target! The group had a wonderful time and are already thinking about their next charity endeavour!
A special ‘well done’ goes to James, who from here took on the Three Peaks Challenge – climbing not only Snowdon, but also Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis – the three highest peaks in the UK!

About Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Service
Unlike the NHS emergency services, EHAAT is a charity. This free, life-saving service is provided 24/7 by helicopters and by rapid response vehicles.
Each critical care team consists of a pilot and co-pilot, a pre-hospital care doctor and a critical paramedic. They can be rushed to the scene of an incident with life-saving support equipment to deliver advanced clinical care, which usually only available in the hospital emergency department. Once stabilised, the patient will be conveyed to the most appropriate hospital by air or land.
It costs £9 million every year to cover all operational and charitable costs, and every gift the charity receives makes a meaningful difference. If you would like to learn more about Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Service, click here >>.
