A Powder Transfer System offers a safe and convenient method of transferring powders and other materials. The Hanningfield Uni-Vac transports matter vertically and horizontally to and from process machines. It uses a ‘Lean-Phase’ design where a high ratio of entrained air in the process line suspends the material through the conveying pipework.
The Hanningfield Uni-Vac system has been specifically designed for the demanding needs of the pharmaceutical, food, chemical and allied industries. The Uni-Vac boasts an easy-clean design and is constructed from stainless steel. Many industry leaders have chosen the Uni-Vac for both its quality and reliability, with the system supplied and installed worldwide. With over three decades experience in the powder processing and handling industry, we are confident we can provide you with a vacuum loading or transfer solution.

Optimise Your Powder Transfer System
There area number of ways to ensure optimum performance of your powder transfer system. Below are some of the straightforward, yet essential checks you can undertake.
> Regularly Check/Clean the System Filters
Filters are at the heart of any powder transfer system and should be checked and cleaned regularly to ensure the system is operating efficiently. Blocked filters can constrict the airflow and can significantly reduce throughput as a consequence. Cartridge-type filters can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner. Fabric-type filter bags can be washed.
> Monitor the Condition of the Seals & Gaskets
The system’s seals and gaskets must be in perfect condition and fitted properly to avoid air-leaks. Any problems here can cause a significant drop in performance as the air flow suffers. It is important to check the seals and gaskets and remove any residual product that may cause air leaks.
> Check the Air Entrainment
This is vital to the correct operation of a lean-phase vacuum conveying powder transfer system. It is important that adequate air-bleed systems are incorporated into and convey line and checked for correct operation allowing air to be introduced when needed. Hanningfield offers a range of air-entrainment devices to ensure peak performance is achieved.
> Ensure Good ‘Earthing’ of the System
This is essential to avoid static build up in the process line. You will need to ensure all flexible hoses are embedded-wire type and correctly earthed at each end. Confirmation of a continuous ‘earth’ throughout the system should be checked periodically using a multi-meter.
> Finally, Check the Control Sequences
All vacuum conveying powder transfer systems rely on a timed sequence of operations, such as convey duration, discharge durations and length of filter clean cycle etc. It is important that these settings are correct to provide optimum performance. Control sequences should be regularly checked.
If a system is not correctly maintained, performance levels can fall significantly. For process-specific recommendations and best-practice, please just ask a question to our team of experts by contacting us.
