A crucial step in the creation of nutraceutical supplements is powder processing and size reduction. Before becoming the final product, the majority of materials go through some type of powderization, deagglomeration or a delumping process. However, the ingredients used in nutraceuticals can often create challenges in the production environment, such as poor flowability. By transforming bioactive compounds into powdered form, manufacturers can create products which offer convenient consumption, enhanced bioavailability, and targeted delivery of these health-promoting ingredients to customers.

The Conical Mill – For Particle Size Reduction
The Hanningfield Uni-Mill (under-driven) Conical Mill is ideal for milling processes in the nutraceutical industry. The conical mill offers numerous benefits over alternative milling methods including; higher throughput, tighter particle size distribution, easier cleaning/maintenance, and less noise, heat and dust.
Centrifugal Sifter – For Powder Screening & Security
The Hanningfield Kwik-Sift offers fast and effective screening of nutraceutical powders, helping to guarantee material integrity through the capture of alien objects. Our sifter also functions to deagglomerate materials (with the use of a spoiler arm), which have become compacted during transportation and storage.
Vacuum Transfer System – For Transferring Powder
The Uni-Vac is designed for the safe and convenient transfer of powder. The dust-tight sealed system automates and accelerates the transfer process while reducing manual handling. The system also prevents material contamination during the transfer process, while protecting the operator, process and environment from product exposure or accidental spillage.
Bin Blender – For Homogenized Batches
The Bin Blender is designed for the gentle tumbling of IBCs and drums, helping to create uniform batches of powdered nutraceutical material.
‘Blending-in-the-Bin’ is considered the most efficient method of tumbling bulk solids. This method enables immediate product switch-over and no washdown is required between batches. As this mixes the product inside the container, there is no risk of cross contamination, dust creation or environment exposure during the process.
Cyclone – For Waste Powder Recovery
The Hanningfield Cyclone is specifically designed for the recovery of waste powder from filling machines or from processes such as compression or encapsulation.
The cyclone can capture up to 99% of lost material. The design prevents blinding and replacement of expensive filters in the central dust extraction system and has been shown to greatly improve batch loss reconciliation and yields.
