Hanningfield is delighted to welcome Dan Veilleux to our team as our new Regional Sales Manager for North America. Dan has a wealth of experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, where he has had previous roles as both a Field Service Engineer and in Sales. He is therefore uniquely positioned to serve our customers by providing solutions with his extensive industry knowledge.
To help you get to know Dan a little better, we’ve asked him a few questions…
Can you tell us about your background in the pharmaceutical equipment industry?
I started in the pharmaceutical industry as a Field Service Engineer for an OEM supplier who supplied material handling, containment, and cleaning solutions for many OSD pharmaceutical manufacturers. I specialized in commissioning, and validation services for these systems and gained many valuable experiences as well as in-depth pharmaceutical process knowledge.
My focus has always been to provide solutions and ensure maximum uptime and throughput for customers’ processes. And, I have been able to bring this insight into my various sales roles throughout the last decade.
What are you most excited about in your new role at Hanningfield?
Having spent the last decade with large corporations and conglomerates, I started to feel disconnected from direct customer relationships. I am so excited to be joining James Ellis and the HPS team as they are hyper-focused on the customer experience.
HPS manufactures high quality processing systems, but it is their attention to customer service that attracted me. And with my RSM role, I am very excited to be able to help cultivate these relationships and drive HPS’s business within North America.
Explain to us your approach when working with customers?
I believe very strongly in the long-term relationship
between an OEM and their customers. This takes time, effort, and a focused
approach where the entire organization is focused on serving their customers.
Once we solve the challenge of providing a technical solution, then it is
imperative that we support each customer and help them achieve their production
goals. At the end of the day, providing unparalleled support to our customers
supersedes all other operations of the business.
What do you believe to be the most common challenges in the industry today?
By far the biggest challenge facing pharmaceutical manufacturers are the many potential disruptions to the supply chain. Even though Covid was several years ago, it highlighted how fragile the system of offshoring can be. Whether it be essential ingredients such as API’s, excipients, or equipment and spare parts; every level of the supply chain was exposed to delays and shortages.
There are also many regulatory hurdles that these manufacturers face year on year. They must navigate rigid drug approval processes, manufacturing standards, and the required validation processes must be carried out in systematic manner. All these challenges cost valuable time and money.
HPS is in a great position to provide custom-tailored solutions to the industry. And with all HPS systems and equipment being designed and manufactured solely at our factory in the UK; customers can rely on the fact that their HPS system will be delivered on time and perform as designed. Being able to provide this level of reliability may be HPS’s greatest strength.
In your opinion, what do you see as Hanningfield’s greatest opportunities in terms of the US market?
HPS is in a unique position to serve and be successful within the North American market. Unlike other larger competitors, HPS manufacturers all their systems, products, and parts in-house with very little outsourcing. This is almost unheard of with most OEM suppliers these days where outsourcing has become the standard operating procedure for most equipment suppliers. This advantage allows HPS to be responsive to their customers’ requirements and adapt solutions quickly and successfully.
HPS’s “customer first” mentality permeates the entire organization through sales, project management & design, and installation & commissioning. HPS considers the US market vital to their growth and we are investing heavily in the resources required to support North American customers now and in the future.
Explain what you find most rewarding about working in this industry?
For me, the ability to solve challenges and provide system solutions for our customers is the biggest thrill. I have been serving the pharmaceutical industry in various capacities for most of my career. So, I can appreciate the requirements of GMP that our customers face. I relish the opportunity to help our customers solve these manufacturing challenges as well as improve their processes.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Living in Florida, we are fortunate to have year-round sunshine. This allows me to enjoy my passion for golf for most of the year. I have travelled to over 40 states and had the opportunity to play golf at many courses including several famous ones. My wife and I also love cooking, bike riding, and travelling.
