To prevent powders being wasted in filters during nutraceutical manufacturing, a Powder Capture Cyclone can be connected to process machinery to collect waste powder using filter-less, vortex separation technology.
Many nutraceutical manufacturers use tablet presses and capsule filling machines when creating their products. The filters on these machines notoriously clog up and blind, which are expensive to replace, causes loss of suction during blinding and wastes valuable nutra ingredients. Connecting a cyclone to the extraction lines of these machines significantly reduces material loss and saves on filter replacement and maintenance costs.
Uni-Dust Cyclone
The Hanningfield Uni-Dust Cyclone typically captures between 90 – 99.9% of waste powder and is ideal for nutraceutical manufacturing. Recovered waste material can be used for batch loss reconciliation, or even reintroduced to the process (where protocol permits). The cyclone can be retrofitted to your existing dust extraction line, or can be supplied with a side channel blower to provide a dedicated vacuum source.
Filter-less particle separation is possible because the cyclone’s geometry causes the solid particles to be split apart from the air stream. It features an all stainless steel design, assembled using Tri-Clamps for hygienic construction, while allowing for quick and easy assembly / disassembly. With no mechanical parts, the cyclone has virtually no consumable items or conceivable faults. Once installed, the unit is maintenance-free and cost-free, making return on investment high and ever-increasing.

Features
> Specifically designed to be compatible with the standard airflows of compression and encapsulation machines
> GMP stainless steel construction
> Designed to be mounted inside the process room for guaranteeing integrity of captured material
> Cyclone can be retrofitted to existing processes
Benefits
> Prevents blinding and replacement of expensive filters in central dust extraction system or vacuum cleaner, with associated environmental benefits
> High efficiency design, typically capturing 90 – 99.9%
> Almost zero maintenance costs as cyclone has no moving parts and no filters
> Where protocol permits, recovered powder can be reworked and reintroduced, minimising material loss
Cyclone Applications
- Dust Collection from Tablet Press
The Uni-Dust cyclone is designed to be connected to the extraction line of a tablet press, intercepting waste powder before it reaches the central extraction system.
- Dust Collection from Capsule Filling Machine
The Uni-Dust cyclone can be connected to the extraction line of a capsule filling machine, intercepting waste powder before it reaches the central extraction system.
