Additive manufacturing is an increasingly growing industry which produces material-efficient parts and rapid prototyping. The ability to print strong and light-weight designs on demand provides many benefits such as fast production schedules. The very nature of additive manufacturing however, can lead to significant powder loss and poor yields. Metal powders are both expensive and, at times, hazardous. Thus, the ability to reclaim this powder significantly reduces product scrap and greatly enhances the working environment for manufacturing operators.
The Hanningfield Uni-Dust
Hanningfield‘s Powder Recovery Cyclone is specifically designed for the recovery of lost powder. The introduction of our cyclone provides huge benefits anywhere powder is lost. The advanced technology can be fitted or retrofitted to any machine which is creating waste powder or dust. The Uni-Dust cyclone typically captures 90-99% of waste powder, allowing for re-processing and re-introduction of the material if protocol permits.
Hundreds of customers across many different industries have already realised the benefits of the Hanningfield cyclone. There is now an increasing adoption of this technology in the additive manufacturing industry as they look to optimise processes and improve yields.
Hanningfield Uni-Dust Design
The filterless Uni-Dust features a crevice-free, GMP stainless steel construction, enabling the unit to be mounted inside the process room. The Uni-Dust is assembled using Tri-Clamps for fast and easy dismantling for cleaning and has no moving parts. All models of Uni-Dust are suitable for use in Zone 0/20 ATEX environments both internally and externally.
Features & Benefits
> Compatible with the standard extraction airflows of most AM machines
> Stainless steel construction, with quick-clean design (dismantles down to small pieces in < 1 minute)
> Compact designed allows the cyclone to be mounted in close proximity to machinery
> Can be retrofitted to existing processes
> High efficiency design capturing 90-99.9% of material
> Prevents blinding and replacement of expensive filters in central dust extraction systems or vacuum cleaners
> Almost zero maintenance costs as the cyclone has no moving parts and no filters
> Helps manufacturers improve yields
> Recovered powder can be reworked and reintroduced, minimising material loss
