At Hanningfield, we have over three decades experience in supplying solutions to niche process challenges. We are often approached by customers who require a modified design to achieve their desired process results. As new equipment is often retrofitted to an existing process line, it needs to be compatible with current equipment, room restrictions and factory layout. Therefore, not all processes can be satisfied with an off-the-shelf solution.
Below are some examples of recent custom milling solutions we have manufactured to meet our customer’s exact process requirements.
Recent Customised Milling Projects
ATEX & High Containment Bin-to-Bin Milling
This highly specialised system, which was designed for in-line bin-to-bin milling, featured ATEX Zone 0/20 internal and ATEX Zone 1/21 external. The unit included nitrogen purging with an O2 level monitor.
The mill was situated on a mobile frame with manual raise/lower function for ease of height adjustment. High containment was achieved via split valves on the inlet and outlet to maintain high integrity connections to the discharge bin. Also included was Wet in Place spray balls to aid cleaning and eliminate airborne dust.
ATEX Conical Mill System with Sack Tip Loading
This unit was ATEX compliant with ATEX Zone 20 internal / Zone 22 external and featured PT100 probes for temperature monitoring. The design also featured vacuum take-off for intergration with a conveying system and a level sensor to ensure product flow. The conical mill also included wet-in-place spray nozzles for simple and efficient cleaning of the interior mill housing.
A silicone compensator between the sack tip and the conical mill was included to overcome any slight horizontal and vertical misalignment. Crucially, the sack tip station lid featured an inflatable seal, ensuring dust emissions were controlled during the unloading process.
Customised Wide Frame Conical Mill
This customised M20-U mill featured a wide frame for straddling an IBC and an extended height raise / lower hoist for docking above the 1000L container. A PT100 probe was included in the design for monitoring the temperature inside the milling chamber and the unit was operated with touch screen controls via Siemens HMI.
The low positioning of the mill head meant that it was suitable for docking under the customer’s High Shear Mixer. The detachable head allowed for easy cleaning and full interchangeability with a sifter head.
