Hanningfield are highly experienced in the supply of ATEX/Ex-Proof equipment for use in the most demanding environments up to ATEX Zone 0/20 (1GD).
About ATEX
ATEX helps mitigate the risk of an explosion when handling powders or vapours, especially those with combustible characterisitcs (e.g. a low value MIE – Minimum Ignition Energy). ATEX classifications help align machinery standards for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. When you select a certified ATEX machine, it should mean there are technical files in place to ensure safe operation. Those technical files should be reviewed and stored by a Notified Body. In addition, Hanningfield holds a QAN (Quality Assurance Notice) which involves periodic audit and assessment, to ensure adherence to the required standards. Alongside compliance to ATEX Standards, we can also supply equipment for alternative Ex standards, such as NFPA Class / Div and IECEX.
ATEX Conical Mills
The Hanningfield Uni-Mill provides the ideal solution to meet ATEX legislation directives specifically for the pharmaceutical environment. The design and features of our Uni-Mill product range draws upon decades of design experience working with customers to supply ATEX compliant milling equipment. Hanningfield’s ATEX conical mills are utilised in various industries including pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food and nuclear.
To meet the level of hazard specified, our conical mills are customisable with special features such as temperature probes for monitoring, nitrogen purging, dust containment methods (e.g. a vessel with a HEPA filter), no metal-to-metal contact design to prevent sparking, ATEX rated electrical equipment and accessories (e.g. motors, safety switches and control panels), and earthing clamps to ground stainless steel to stop the build-up of static electricity. The belt-driven and geared Uni-Mill machines can be made ATEX compliant. Both options also have external machine parts that are designed to keep the temperature of the mill and the material to a minimum.
The Uni-Mill is ATEX approved and suitable up to ATEX Zone 0/20 (1GD).
ATEX Centrifugal Sifter
The Hanningfield Kwik-Sift offers fast and effective powder screening, helping to guarantee material integrity through the capture of alien objects (such as nuts, bolts, washers, cable ties). The rotating mesh drum creates a centrifugal screening action, with powder passing through the mesh while retaining those objects larger than the hole aperture. For achieving different grades of separation, various drum mesh sizes are available to meet different application requirements.
The Hanningfield Kwik-Sift is up to x5 quicker than traditional vibratory sieving methods.
The Kwik-Sift is ATEX approved and suitable up to ATEX Zone 0/20 (1GD).
ATEX Vacuum Transfer Systems
Hanningfield Uni-Vac vacuum conveyors are designed as a safe and convenient method for transferring and transporting powders, granules and other material in a dust-tight sealed system. Automated and accelerated loading can be acheieved whilst transferring material from A to B in a process setting. Manual handling is greatly reduced and the system can be mounted in-line for feeding downstream process (gravity feed or vacuum transfer).
Hanningfield’s vacuum transfer systems are suitable up to ATEX Zone 0/20 (1GD).
ATEX Hoists
The Uni-Hoist lift system is designed for the handling of containers such as Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), drums, containers and bins. Hanningfield’s stainless steel lift columns are engineered for the safe and repeatable use in hygienic settings. The hoist system employs either a lead-screw or chain lifting mechanism, with fail-safe features to prevent the load slipping in case of malfunction. Our hoists can be modified to accommodate any load type (lifting forks, clamp arm, squeeze cone, platform, hook, etc). Hoists can be powdered by electric, pneumatic or manual hand-winding. Meanwhile, the hoists can also be stationary (mounted to floor, wall, floor-to-ceiling etc) or mobile on a trolley with castors.
Our hoists are suitable up to ATEX Zone 1/21 (2GD).
