The Hanningfield Team raises money for a cause close to our hearts
Yesterday, the friends and family of James Deeley took part in the Foulness Island Bike Ride 2021, cycling 26 miles (plus a bit extra) to raise money for Papyrus Charity (Prevention of Young Suicide).
On 12th September 2021, the team took their place at the starting line on Foulness Island and were thrilled to successfully cycle a total a 41.04KM in a reasonable time of 2 hours and 37 minutes! They did take a couple of stops during the cycle to stretch their legs, have a chat, and take in some of the views on the island on a very warm and sunny day. The team were greeted at the finish line by the Ellis family and the rest of the Hanningfield team. Everyone finished the day with a few well-earned drinks, accompanied by James’ family and supporters, where we all raised a glass in James’ memory.
We wish to say, on behalf of the whole team, a huge thank you for all of the kind donations. It has been remarkable to see the amount of support, encouragement, and generosity shown for such a worthwhile cause. The team began this fundraiser with an aim to raise £500 in memory of our dear friend James whilst also raising awareness for the wonderful charity, Papyrus.
So far, the team have raised more than £5,000 for the charity! In addition, Hanningfield’s Dave Soar raised £2,000 for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), meaning over £7,000 has been raised in total.
We are all so proud to have raised this amount in James Deeley’s memory and hope the donations will go towards helping someone in their time of need.
