Powder Systems

Hanningfield design and manufacture systems for handling and processing powder.

Systems for controlling powder can be the difference between a smooth and problematic process.  Hanningfield manufacutre a range of powder systems which can help improve your process:

Powder Handling

Vacuum Conveyors - By automating and containing the transfer of powder, vacuum conveyors can help improve your powder handling. Powder can be transferred directly from containers to downstream processes, automating and improving the handling of powder.  For more information, click here.

Powder Processing

Cone Mills - Milling is a vital stage in processing, and is commonly used for deagglomeration, wet and dry granulation sizing, scrap reclaim,  tablet reclaim and many other applications. Cone mills offer many advantages over their alternatives, specifically; minimal heat generation, little dust, low noise, higher throughput and many other benefits. Powder Containment

Powder Recovery Cyclones - The cyclone is placed between the tablet press/capsule filling machine etc. and the LEV line in a process room, and collects excess powder in a capture-pot at the bottom of the cyclone.  Once the material is collected, operators can reconcile batch losses. The Uni-Dust cyclone separates over 95% of solids from the air, capturing excess powder in the process room and allowing clean air to pass to the central dust extraction system. Leading Technology in Powder Processing

The processing of powders has always been an important challenge for engineers in the pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries. The size reduction milling of powder to create an evenly distributed, repeatable end product is vital as inconsistencies between batches are unwelcome and can be potentially dangerous.

Hanningfield’s conical mills offer a high-throughput solution to these problems, by offering a fast, repeatable size reduction method for the processing of powders. For more information on the Hanningfield Uni-Mill, please click here.

Vacuum Transfer of Pharmaceutical Powders

Vacuum transfer is an automated method of transporting material from Point A to Point B of a process, such as sucking powder directly from an IBC and transporting it to a hopper which will then load a tablet press.

This automated system negates the need for manual handling whilst offering increased throughput and safety.

Vacuum Transfer Equipment for Food Processing

The food processing industry involves the handling of powders, granules, pellets and other food stuffs.

Vacuum transfer equipment can overcome many of the problems posed by the manual handling of material, such as dust containment and contamination issues.  Moreover, the vacuum transfer of material can vastly improve productivity by significantly increasing throughput.

Powder Handling Equipment

Powder handling equipment is vital to the productivity and hygiene requirements of the pharmaceutical, food and allied industries.

Powder handling through vacuum transfer can significantly increase productivity through the automation of manual tasks such as IBC loading or tablet press loading.  Meanwhile, the fully contained transfer system helps maintain the integrity of the product, whilst eliminating waste and operator exposure to dust.

Contain Excess Dust

The Uni-Dust powder recovery cyclone offers a significant step forward in the problem of dust containment during powder processing.

The space-conscious cyclone is situated in the process room and is connected to either a capsule filling machine or a tablet compression machine. The Uni-Dust cyclone is placed between the machine and the dust extraction point; the cyclone then separtes solids from the air.  This ensures only clean air passes to the central dust extraction system, with the contaiminated product captured in a catch-pot attached to the cyclone.

This ensures best-practice through high-level compliance with FDA guidelines as batch losses can easily be reconciled.
